Dear members and friends, ძვირფასო მეგობრებო,
This Thursday evening, 15 October, PitchBlend brings a workshop of songs from Georgia to St Ambrose Church in Whitehall, Bristol. It is led by Nino Naneishvili, one of Georgia’s leading ethnomusicologists and singers, who has directed the women’s ensemble Ialoni since 2009. October is რთველი (rtveli), the grape harvest, so the songs are wine songs, and everything is taught by ear, exactly as it is passed on in Georgia. Complete beginners are as welcome as experienced singers.
The workshop runs from 6.30pm to 9pm, with doors at 6pm, at St Ambrose Church, Stretford Road, Whitehall, Bristol BS5 7AW. Tickets are tiered from £12.50 to £25, there are youth tickets for ages 14 to 21, children under 14 come free with a responsible adult, and tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.
PitchBlend asks that anyone for whom cost is a barrier get in touch, and something will be arranged. Book at: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/pitchblend/2425499
PitchBlend brings Georgian music to Bristol that we could never stage ourselves, and going along is one of the simplest and most enjoyable ways to support what our Association exists for. If you go, sing a note for me.
